If the rumors are correct, DJI will follow the launch of the superior DJI Mini 3 Pro with a more unusual drone. The DJI Avata is like a “cine hoop” drone with a 3-inch propeller, as it has been called in recent leaks. In other words, you may be able to shoot dramatic indoor footage.
What is a Cine Hoop Drone? These small models usually have a built-in propeller guard and are designed to fly over tight spaces and people. This means that Avata is different from DJI’s other current range, which was designed primarily for shooting spectacular outdoor footage.
Not surprisingly, this means that DJI Avata has a radically different design than other drones, and apparently leaked images seem to support this. You can expect to see some large built-in propeller guards and, in some cases, some new FPV goggles that match Avata.
So what exactly do you know about DJI Avata so far? And when will it be released? This regularly updated guide summarizes all the latest leaks and rumors and sprinkles a unique analysis of what appears to be an exciting and unusual launch for drone kings.
DJI Avata release date and price
According to the usually trusted DJI leaker @DealsDrone, DJI Avata is expected to be available in July.
Given recent events in the DJI world, this timescale certainly seems feasible. I started to see what the first leaked photo of DJI Avata looks like. This usually happens about a month before DJI is officially released.
Rumor has it that DJI Avata will be released in July https://t.co/IVblTuxSClJune 2, 2022
Also, DJI already has another event scheduled for June 15th. Official teaser (Opens in a new tab) Says it is for the release of a new “DJI Pro” product. The event is expected to have a short gap between this and the Avata release, as DJI RS3 and RS3 Pro gimbals are scheduled for launch.
So far, there are no leaks or rumors suggesting possible prices for DJI Avata. Cinewhoop drones are usually a homemade hobby issue that comes with a GoPro mount. That said, pre-built models like the iFlight Bumblebee V3 with DJI goggles can cost more than $ 999 / £ 999, so there is no guarantee that DJI Avata will be cheaper.
Avata is almost certain to include a built-in camera and some FPV goggles, so it may be offered at a similar price to the DJI FPV, but we’ll update this page as rumors grow. increase.
DJI Avata leaks and rumors
The leaked DJI Avata images we’ve seen so far show a radically different design from DJI’s current drones, which is to be expected given that it’s a cine hoop-style model. is.
The biggest leaks are both from the @DealsDrone Twitter account, which has previously proven to be a reliable source of previous DJI launches like the Mini 3 Pro.
The first image (bottom) displayed on May 18 shows a small plastic drone with a design very typical of the current cinewhoop model, with a large prop suitable for indoor flight and around people. It is built-in.

However, one of the less common features of these types of drones is the built-in camera and gimbal. Today’s cinewhoop drones usually have a GoPro mount without a camera, but DJI Avata seems to have a DJI camera module. According to @DealsDrone, it can provide the same video and quality as the DJI Mini 3 Pro.
The leaked image also shows a fairly large battery and was backed up by another leak on June 4th of the rendering showing the same design. However, the accompanying image of the apparently new DJI goggles, which looks like an edited image of the FPV goggles V2, was a bit unconvincing.
Still, DJI Avata is likely to add new twists to DJI’s FPV goggles. It may also support “head chase mode”. @DealsDrone (Opens in a new tab) May 15th. It’s not clear exactly what this will be, but it sounds like a (slightly scary) form of subject tracking.

These new goggles obviously connect directly to your phone. DJI Avata also has a built-in vibration reduction feature.
It’s not yet clear if this refers to gimbal-based stabilization, electronic stabilization like DJI’s existing Rock Steady, or a combination of both. However, it could form part of DJI’s attempt to provide the equivalent of GoPro’s Reel Steady software. For example, the video below is stabilized using Reel Steady.
ReelSteady is used by most FPV drone pilots to smooth out bumps and jitter common to small, lightweight drones. Instead of simply cropping to wide-angle footage, it uses gyro metadata from the GoPro action cams, giving you greater control over the amount of video stabilization. Given that Reel Steady is currently owned by GoPro, we hope DJI will offer the equivalent of its own FPV drone.
Another potential advantage of DJI’s Cinewhoop drone is its inclusion intelligent flight mode, such as QuickShots. There’s no leak about this yet, but it’s expected to be seen somehow in DJI Avata.
DJI Avata: Early Verdict
DJI Avata is shaped to be a rare drone for DJI, but it makes a lot of sense and fits into a wider range of strategies.
The drone giant seems to be on a mission to bring professional filmmaking skills to the masses. It’s due to making the best novice drone for Vloging tools like DJI Pocket 2, and Avata seems to be dedicated to cine hoop style video.
This style of video has been viral several times on social media in recent years, from bowling alley flythroughs. (Opens in a new tab) To Tesla’s recent Giga Factory Tour (Opens in a new tab).. Many of the drones used in these videos already use DJI technology, such as the DJI HD FPV system, so the launch of the all-in-one option isn’t that big.
This will start another mid-air collision course with GoPro. GoPro recently launched the GoPro Hero 10 Black Bones camera for the Cinewhoop drone. The latter is built for senior enthusiasts, but DJI Avata, like the DJI FPV, could be a bit more plug-in and fly. Keep in mind that leaks will increase shortly before the launch of Avata. Report any leaks here as soon as they occur.
