Smartwatch for athletes and professionals

HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Review – The latest GT 3 is intended to be the successor to the previous HUAWEI WATCH GT and WATCH GT 2 (please check the reviews while you are here). Smoothness and elegance certainly remain, but this time the wearable is updated with the latest and greatest sensors and HUAWEI’s technology, including all-day SPO2 monitoring.

The WATCH GT 3 has two band size options, 46mm and 42mm. And only certain colors and designs are available in them. So, for example, the best looking one (in my opinion) is the Classic 46mm Brown. However, that is not possible with the 42mm band. My review unit here is 42mm black. This is because 46mm watches are usually too big for my little wrist.

The smaller 42mm model has up to 7 days of battery life compared to the 46mm’s 14 days of battery life.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 42mm features a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 and a thickness of only 10.2mm. The screen is bright and you can look out. The screen is touch screen compatible and has two hard buttons on the side. The bottom is reserved as a quick start shortcut to get you started exercising. This is very useful if you are exercising frequently. At the top is a rotating crown, which feels comfortable when pushed and rotated.

Choose from many preset exercise modes, including badminton, a regular weekly exercise (18 professional workout modes, 12 outdoor workouts, over 100 workout modes including 6 indoor workouts) .. Thanks to all the advanced sensors in the watch with HUAWEI TruSeen 5.0+, you can get a lot of health data from your daily exercise such as walking and sleeping.

Built-in GPS support (GPS, Beidou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS satellite system) allows you to accurately record outdoor training such as running and cycling. You can also see the route and, if desired, backtrace the route to the starting position. For example, for mountaineering and snowboarding, the Huawei watch can also use the built-in barometer to monitor current barometric pressure and notify you of tide changes in real time.

For athletes and professionals, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 will shine even brighter. This is because the watch can evaluate athletic performance based on historical data. There are also training programs that can be tailored to professional training. Based on heart rate during intense training, recovery heart rate, and other important data during exercise, the watch can assess your running ability index and plan your next workout to improve the quality of your workout.

The Huawei watch allows for accurate heart rate monitoring thanks to the curved glass lens, which not only allows for more comfortable wearing, but also allows for more accurate placement on the wrist. In addition, you can constantly monitor your blood oxygen (SpO2) as well as your heart rate. Of course, you can turn monitoring on and off at all times to extend battery life.

Speaking of battery life, the 42mm Huawei watch I have here has a battery life of up to 7 days. This depends on many things. There is also an “Always-On Display” (AOD) that I really like, but it consumes a little more battery than usual. There are many Huawei watch faces, from free to paid, and they look different.

I like chargers. Because there are no charging pins that need to be matched to the watch, you can actually put the watch on the charger as you like. A simple but important design choice.

At bedtime, the Huawei watch can also monitor sleep quality, but we’ve found that it’s not accurately tracked when you wake up from sleep several times a week. My son was ill, so he slept with us for the time being. And every time he coughed, I was awake, but the watch didn’t seem to keep track of these. But it tracks my sleep pattern and my sleep quality. You can see this in the HUAWEI Health app.

It can also be used for other purposes when not exercising or sleeping. I like how you get notifications for your app on your watch. This can be customized in the app. For example, I usually turn off Whatsapp notifications. This is because there may be too many in a day and you don’t want to be disturbed too often.

You can also make a call with your wrist. This is something I don’t normally use or care about, but I found it very useful when I was in the kitchen on the first floor and put the phone on the second floor. Later, when I got a call, I got a notification and could pick it up with just my watch. Thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, I was able to talk comfortably with the caller. However, I’m not sure if it works outdoors or in a noisy environment.

There are other useful features such as pinging your smartphone or using a “flashlight” that basically turns the entire clock face into a white background, but you need to enter your son’s room at midnight. If there is, it is very effective. To take out some things without turning on the light.

You can download more apps on the HUAWEI AppGallery, but at this stage you don’t have that many options and we look forward to further growth.

HUAWEI WATCH GT3 Review Conclusion

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 is a smartwatch that looks great, fits well, and has excellent performance. It’s definitely aimed at fitness (that is, a healthier smartwatch), so health conscious people and those who like exercise will be very happy with all the advanced techniques and monitors in the watch.

Heart rate monitoring, all-day SpO2 monitoring, built-in GPS and barometer, microphones and speakers for receiving calls, monitoring statistics, exercising data, and providing advice for the next better training It has more technology.

However, this watch is powered by HarmonyOS and HUAWEI AppGallery, so you won’t be able to find as many apps as you need. For example, you can’t control the Hue smartlight from your watch at home, check the camera feed at the front door, or do the funky things you can do with other smartwatches. However, if you don’t mind this, you’ll be happy with your purchase.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 is A $ 399 (42mm black), A $ 499 (42mm gold), A $ 449 (42mm white), A $ 449 (46mm black), A $ 499 (46mm brown), A $ 599 ( It is sold as a 46mm runner).
